EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Softball produced a pair of stellar outings in the circle in a Saturday sweep of action at Lady Bengal Field, defeating National Park and Bossier Parish. In 14 innings of action, the Bengals (12-3) limited their opponents to two combined hits and a pair of shutouts.
Erika Savage (Kingwood, TX, Kingwood Park HS) started the day off with a 5-0 shutout of National Park followed by
Emily Rachal's (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS) clean sheet against Bossier Parish in a 5-0 victory. The Bengals used home runs in each game to get their offense going, coming off the bats of
Payton Prince (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) and
Mya Lanoux (Gonzales, LA, East Ascension HS).
LSU Eunice continues its three-team round robin weekend with National Park and Bossier Parish CC on Sunday. The Bengals begin action against Nighthawks at noon, followed by a 5:00PM game against Cavaliers.
Game 1 vs. National Park – W, 5-0
Erika Savage continued her strong start to the 2026 campaign, leading the Bengals to a 5-0 win over National Park to begin the day's action. Savage tossed six no-hit innings to pick up her sixth win of the season.
Savage retired the first 12 batters she faced in the afternoon, striking out six batters during that stretch. She would give up a lead off walk in the fifth inning, working around a walk and getting a spectacular putout at home on a relay from the outfield following a throwing error on a National Park bunt.
Carlei Wheeler (Simsboro, LA, Simsboro HS) would close out the game with a one-hit relief inning, striking out a pair of batters.
Payton Prince started the scoring for LSUE with a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
Kobi Lam (Lafayette, LA, Southside HS) helped
Maleah Galvan (Blessing, TX, Tidehaven HS) score an inning later, reaching safely on one of five National Park errors. The Bengals added two more runs in the sixth inning thanks to a
Jadyn Yesso (Houma, LA, Houma Christian HS) sacrifice grounder and a Nighthawk error on a
Jade Fischtzuir (Covington, LA, Covington HS) fly ball.
Makinley Harris (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) was the lone Bengal with a multi-hit game.
Game 2 vs. Bossier Parish – W, 4-0
The Bengals got another strong outing from Emily Rachal to lead the way against Bossier Parish CC in a 5-0 win to close out the day. Rachal carried a perfect game into the fifth inning, giving up her only hit of the game after retiring the first 14 batters she faced in order.
Rachal improved to 5-1 on the season after tossing six innings. Carlei Wheeler finished off the game again in relief, working around a walk in the seventh inning.
A pitching duel early, LSUE put the first runs of the game on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Jade Fischtzuir singled home
Kadyn Schenk (Kentwood, LA, Jewel Sumner HS) before Mya Lanoux put the momentum in the LSUE dugout with a two-run home run over the left field wall. The Bengals added an insurance run in the sixth off an executed first-and-third double steal.
Fischtzuir was joined by
Makinzey Elisar (Prairieville, LA, St. Amant HS) and
Ella Mabile (Pierre Part, LA, Assumption HS) with multi-hit games, part of the Bengals' 10-hit attack.
