EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball put its offense in motion a little too late, falling to Murray State 4-3 on Friday at Bengal Stadium. LSUE (13-2) did not manage its first hit until the seventh inning.
A pitcher's duel throughout, Murray State plated a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth before opening up its lead in the sixth with a three-run frame.
Hudson Spangler (Zachary, LA, Zachary HS) was dealt his first loss of the season, giving up just two hits in five innings of work while yielding three walks and two earned runs.
LSUE would get within striking distance thanks to a two-out rally in the eighth.
Jordan Luna (Washington, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS) induced a two-out walk to put two runners on base before
Andrew Clapinski (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS) brought both runners home on a triple to left field, cutting the deficit in half.
Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) placed a groundball deep in the hole past the shortstop, beating it out to help Clapinski score.
The Bengals would go down in order in the ninth to end the rally attempt.
