KILGORE, Tx. – LSU Eunice Softball used a couple of big innings to guide the Bengals to a Tuesday doubleheader sweep at Kilgore College.  The Bengals (22-7) put up double digit runs in back-to-back games for the first time this season.

LSUE used a six-run seventh inning to push past the Rangers 12-2, then pushed across a seven-run frame in the finale to take an 11-0 decision in five innings.  Jadyn Yesso (Houma, LA, Houma Christian HS) and Mylie Elsensohn (Pearl River, LA, Pearl River HS) led the pack with three hits each in the twinbill.

The Bengals return home Friday for an afternoon set against Angelina College.  The doubleheader from the Cajun Prairie will begin at 2:00PM at Lady Bengal Field.

Game 1 vs. Kilgore College – W, 12-2
LSU Eunice kick started another great offensive day with a 12-2 win over Kilgore.  The Bengals pounded double digit hits for the 12th time this season.

It was a slower than usual start for the Bengal bats, scoring just one run in the first three innings.  Makinzey Elisar (Prairieville, LA, St. Amant HS) sacrificed home Mylie Elsensohn in the first inning to give LSUE the lead.  Things would pick up in the fourth as LSUE scratched across four runs.  Jadyn Yesso started the scoring in the inning with a RBI double, followed by a two-run double by Mya Lanoux (Gonzales, LA, East Ascension HS).  Elisar added another sacrifice to push the LSUE advantage to 5-0.

Both teams swapped home runs in the fifth with Makinley Harris knocking a solo shot.

The big frame for the Bengals came in the seventh with Amberly Dempster (Des Allemands, LA, Hahnville HS) energizing the team on a solo homer to left field.  Yesso tripled home two more runs and an error later allowed her to score.  Mya Lanoux scored on a passed ball to cap the LSUE offensive showcase.

Yesso, Elsensohn, and Ella Mabile (Pierre Part, LA, Assumption HS) each had multi-hit games.

In the circle, Ava Kordish (Bayou Chicot, LA, Pine Prairie HS) extended herself to her longest outing of the year – four innings.  Kordish scattered six hits while striking out three batters.  Maleah Galvan (Blessing, TX, Tidehaven HS) and Emily Rachal (Bossier City, LA, Airline HS) saw relief action in the circle.

Game 2 vs. Kilgore College – W, 11-0 (Five Innings)
LSUE used more late inning magic to record an 11-0 mercy rule win over Kilgore to close out the Tuesday sweep.  The Bengals came alive late with a seven-run fifth inning to secure the run rule.

The Bengals' would score runs in four of the five innings.  Kobi Lam (Lafayette, LA, Southside HS) and Jadyn Yesso helped LSUE have an early advantage with RBIs in the first and third innings, respectively.  Karsyn Vadnais (Plaquemine, LA, St. John's HS) had a hand in each of LSUE's fourth inning runs, helping Ciara Orgeron (Stonewall, LA, North Desoto HS) score on a bunt error and then coming home on another Kilgore miscue.

It was a power surge in the fifth with three LSUE home runs.  Makinley Harris (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) lifted a solo shot before a two-run homer by Ciara Orgeron and three-run long ball off the bat of Amberly Dempster (Des Allemands, LA, Hahnville HS)Maggie Johnson (Welsh, LA, Welsh HS) closed out the scoring with a RBI double.

Orgeron and Payton Prince (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) each had multi-hit games for the Bengals, part of an 11-hit game.
