Obradovich, LSUE Arms Fuel Saturday Run-Rule

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball got a career day from Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) and a sterling effort on the mound to guide the Bengals to an 11-0 run-rule win over Southeast Arkansas in seven innings on Saturday at Bengal Stadium.  The Bengals (17-3) secured their 11th mercy rule win of the season.

Obradovich had his third three-hit game of his LSUE career, and a career-high four RBIs to pace a Bengal attack that piled up 11 hits in the victory.  The sophomore helped put the Bengals on the board in the first inning with a two-run single, part of a three-run frame.

He would have a hand in two of the team's runs in a big six-run frame, singling home Mason Bordelon (Marksville, LA, Avoyelles Charter HS) and then scoring a two-run double by Dylan Bell (Moss Bluff, LA, Sam Houston HS).  LSUE had five different players connect on run scoring base hits in the inning.  Obradovich and Caleb Hastings (Lutcher, LA, Lutcher HS) helped induce the run rule in the fifth with RBI base hits.

Obradovich and Hastings combined for seven RBIs in the game as the two lone Bengals to record multi-hit games.

Lane Fenske (New Iberia, LA, Catholic-New Iberia HS) led a dominant outing on the mound for the Bengals' pitching staff as they faced the minimum of 21 batters in the seven inning contest.  Fenske improved to 5-0 on the season after tossing five shutout innings, giving up just two hits.  The freshman struck out five of the 15 batters he faced.  He would get help from his defense as LSUE turned a pair of double plays.

Mekai Gallien (Rosenberg, TX, Lamar Consolidated HS) and Dayton Hicks (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) strung together back-to-back perfect innings of relief.  Gallien punched out two batters while Hicks struck out all three batters he faced.  LSUE did not allow a free pass in the game.

The Bengals will go for a four-game series sweep tomorrow.  LSUE and Southeast Arkansas will throw out first pitch at 1:00PM from Bengal Stadium.
