FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – APRIL 18, 2026

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball used a two huge opening innings to cruise to a pair of mercy rule wins at Baton Rouge on Saturday at Pete Goldsby Field.  The Bengals (35-8) used 13 combined runs in the opening innings of both games to end both games in five inning run-rule fashion.

LSUE jumped out with seven runs to start the day on its way to a 12-1 opener, followed by a six-run opening inning in the finale for a 12-2 victory.  The Bengals blasted six home runs in the two games with Tyler Mitchell (Marrero, LA, John Curtis HS) knocking a long ball in each.

The Bengals and Bears close out their series with a 1:00PM Sunday finale.

Game 1 vs. Baton Rouge – W, 12-1
LSU Eunice took advantage of early Baton Rouge miscues to jump on the Bears early and never look back, winning the opening game of the doubleheader 12-1 in five innings.  The Bengals exploded for seven runs in the first inning.

LSUE put its first three batters on base thanks to walks, scoring its first run of the day on a Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) sacrifice fly.  After two more free passes help add another run, Mason Bordelon (Marksville, LA, Avoyelles Charter HS) delivered a two-run double to make it 4-0.  Caleb Hastings (Lutcher, LA, Lutcher HS) pushed two more runs across a batter later with a two-run single.  An error by the Bears helped the final run of the inning score.

Tyler Mitchell kicked off a power surge for the Bengals with a solo home run in the third inning.  Andrew Clapinski (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS) added a solo homer an inning later with the exclamation point provided by Mason Bordelon.  The redshirt sophomore lifted a three-run home run later in the fourth to give the Bengals their final 12-1 tally.

Bordelon led LSUE with five RBIs, a career-high for the Avoyelles Charter HS product.  He was joined by Mitchell with multi hit games as LSUE outhit the Bears 8-4.

Beau Revord (Jefferson City, TN, Jefferson County HS) went the distance in the win, pitching five innings for his first complete game win of the season.  Revord gave up one earned run off four hits and four free passes while striking out four batters.

Game 2 vs. Baton Rouge – W, 12-2

Another hot start led the way for LSU Eunice during a 12-2 win in five innings over Baton Rouge to complete the doubleheader sweep.  The Bengals scored six runs in the first inning, outhitting BRCC 14-3 during the game.

The Bengals connected on big hits in the first inning including two home runs.  AfterAidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) plated Jordan Luna (Washington, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS) with a RBI single to begin the scoring, Milan Obradovich launched a three-run home run.  Tyler Mitchell followed a few batters later with a two-run shot to make it 6-0 LSUE.  BRCC scratched across a run in the bottom half of the inning on a bases loaded walk.

The power surge continued for LSUE in the second inning as Marshall Louque (Lutcher, LA, Lutcher HS) launched a two-run home to push the LSUE advantage to 8-1.  The Bengals added four more runs in the fourth inning with RIB singles from Obradovich and Mitchell before a two-run single by Jake Smith (Rosepine, LA, Rosepine HS).

The heart of the LSUE lineup collected 13 of the team's hits.  Andrew Clapinski went a perfect 4-for-4 on the game with Mouton adding a three-hit outing.  Obradovich, Louque and Mitchell also enjoyed multi-hit games.

Kade LaCoste (Slidell, LA, Pope John Paul II HS) shook off a rocky first inning to improve to 5-1 on the season.  The freshman gave up one unearned run off two hits and four free passes.  Mekai Gallien (Rosenberg, TX, Lamar Consolidated HS) and Xavier Woods (Cleveland, TX, Cleveland HS) each pitched a relief inning.
