NEW ORLEANS, La. – If something could go wrong, it did, during a 10-0 loss for LSU Eunice at Delgado on Thursday. The Bengals (26-6, 4-1 LCCAC) suffered their first shut out since a 2-0 loss to the same Dolphins club late in the 2024 season.
The Dolphins retired the Bengals' first nine batters in a row.
Aidan Mouton (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) recorded one of two LSUE hits in the fourth, only to get thrown out in an inning ending double play.
Delgado used a solo home run in the second inning to take the initial lead, followed by a four-run fourth inning to take a commanding 5-0 advantage.
The Bengals left a crack open in the door in the fifth, putting two runners in scoring position after a lead off walk and
Marshall Louque (Lutcher, LA, Lutcher HS) double. Delgado had other plans, striking out the next three batters to leave the pair stranded.
Delgado would add two more runs in each of its next two at bats to induce the mercy rule after six innings.
Hudson Spangler (Zachary, LA, Zachary HS) was tagged with the loss while
Dayton Hicks (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) also saw action with 1.1 relief innings.
