NEW ORLEANS, La. – LSU Eunice could not jump start its offense until late, falling 4-1 to Delgado to split the four-game road series on Saturday. Through two weeks of conference play, LSUE (28-7) and Delgado share the LCCAC lead at 6-2.
It was another pitcher's duel, with neither team scoring more than a run in an at bat. Delgado would cross runs in the first, fourth, and fifth innings and left the bases loaded in the fifth.
LSUE would have its chances despite only managing three hits in the game. The Bengals left a pair of runners stranded in both the third and sixth innings.
Milan Obradovich (Tuscaloosa, AL, Northridge HS) provided the lone run with a seventh inning solo home run.
Xavier Woods (Cleveland, TX, Cleveland HS) was dealt the loss after hurling four innings. He would scatter two earned runs off five hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
Hunter Gambel (Hammond, LA, St. Thomas Aquinas HS),
Mekai Gallien (Rosenberg, TX, Lamar Consolidated HS), and
Dayton Hicks (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) all pitched in relief.
