Skains was named NJCAA Preseason All-American.

Freshman Year
Finished 2016 with a .477 Batting Average, 83 RBIs, 82 runs, and 25 Home runs.  Skains broke the LSU Eunice home run record with 25 home runs.  The previous record was 21 set by Emily Nolan in 2014.  She finished 3rd in NJCAA Division in home runs.  Skains and the rest of the Bengals won the NJCAA Division II National Championship in 2016.  She was award the National Tournament MVP.
