Lady Bengals Fall at EC Classic

DECATUR, MS - LSU Eunice's 35 points in the fourth period were not enough to overcome their anemic third period in an 87-108 loss to East Central Mississippi here Monday night in game one of the East Central Classic.

The Lady Bengals only scored nine points in the third period to slip farther behind the East Central Warriors (4-1) who held a 16-point halftime lead.  The Warriors scored the first basket of the game and never trailed.

Riley James, coming off a career-high game, scored 21 points for the Lady Bengals, making 50 percent of her shots attempted and hitting 83 percent of free throws attempted.

Brianna Dixon achieved double digits, scoring 12 points for LSUE,  leading the team in rebounds with seven, and recording three blocks. Nikki Kraut and Destini Hall each had multiple three-pointers in the final period.  Kraut finished with 14 points and Hall had 12.

The Lady Bengals will take on Meridian College in game two of the Classic on Tuesday.
