Box Score BEEVILLE, TX – For the second time in five days, Coastal Bend has defeated the LSU Eunice Lady Bengal basketball team. In Tuesday's game, the Lady Bengals were hoping for redemption from their 66-73 loss to Coastal at the San Jac Classic in Houston over the weekend. But the Cougars stopped LSUE 76-62.
LSUE led the game 14-13 after the first period, but Coastal outscored the Lady Bengals, 22-16 in the second to go into halftime with a 35-30 lead.
Riley James led the team in scoring for the third straight game. She finished the night with 14 points, and Sydney Haden had 11 points and five assists.
Both teams shot 29 percent from the floor, but Coastal edged LSUE in rebounds. The Cougars had 59 rebounds, while LSUE finished with 55. James recorded four rebounds and Hayden and Swaranga Fernando each finished with three rebounds.
Also scoring for the Lady Bengals was Jaleya Gold with 10 points, Nicole Kraut with eight, Destini Hall with seven. Aaliyah Austin had five, Gabrielle Harrington and Janeica Menina each had three.
The Lady Bengals' home opener is November 12 at 4 p.m. against Bossier Parish, and the ladies return to Texas on November 15 against Angelina College.
