Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice basketball started December the same way they began last month – hot. The Bengals used defense and another scorching start from
Rylie James (Basile HS) to blow past Patrick Henry 90-69.
The Bengals (8-2) found themselves tied midway through the first quarter but a 7-0 spurt helped LSUE go up for good. LSU Eunice outscored the Patriots 16-5 to close the quarter and take a 26-15 edge, never trailing for the remainder of the game. The Bengals used their full court press to help force several turnovers in that span, finishing with 23 on the evening.
Rylie James scored half of the Bengals' points in the quarter, 13. James finished with 16 in the half and 21 on the night as LSU Eunice pushed its lead to 46-28 going into the locker rooms.
LSUE used a balanced effort after intermission to prevent any Patriot comeback. The Bengals had at least five players score four points or more highlighted by
Gabrielle Harrington's (Erath HS) nine points on three trifectas.
In a battle of two of the top rebounding teams in the NJCAA statistically, the Bengals dominated the glass. LSUE outrebounded Patrick Henry 62-35 including 31 offensive boards.
Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) led the way with 8 rebounds to go with a 10-point evening.
Gold was one of six Bengals to score at least eight points on the night.
Arianna Dargin (Iowa HS) was the other Bengal to tally double digits, going for 14.
The two teams will play again tomorrow inside the HPRE Center. The 2:00PM matinee concludes a season's best six game homestand for the Bengals. LSUE currently rides a five game win streak.
