Bengals win extra innings

After Brookhaven College scored three runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game, LSU Eunice rallied with a run in the bottom of tenth to earn an 8-7 win Saturday at Bengal Stadium.

Koi Westbrook (Carencro, La.) walked and moved into scoring position when Cameron Horton (Benton, La.) reached on an error.Bengal second baseman Bo Myers (Zachary, La.) then singled in Westbrook for the winning run.
 
 Brookhaven College (1-7) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Carlos Reyes doubled and scored on a D.Y. Palmer's single.

LSUE tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second as Micah McHugh (Zachary, La.) was hit by pitch, advanced on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on another wild pitch.

The Bengals added two more runs in the bottom of the third frame, begun as Braden Comeaux (Lake Charles, La.) singled, stole second and then moved to the corner on a single by Michael Claverie (Denham Springs, La. ).

Hunter Feduccia (Lake Charles, La.) doubled in Comeaux and Claverie to push the Bengals ahead, 3-1.

Westbrook homered in the bottom of the fourth as LSUE increased its lead to 4-1.

Brookhaven College exploded for three runs in the top of the fifth inning to force a 4-4 tie.

Dylan Cure doubled and scored on a double by Palmer, while Reyes singled and scored on a hit by Anthony Orta. Palmer crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly by Collin Myer to tie the game.

The Bengals quickly responded as Comeaux was hit by a pitch and Claverie belted a home run to push LSUE back ahead, 6-4.

Feduccia singled and scored on a two-out hit by Westbrook for a 7-4 LSUE advantage.

Brookhaven rallied for three runs on five hits in the top of the ninth to force the game to move into extra innings before the Bengals earned the walk-off win.

LSUE starterZach Hester (Vidor, Tx.) went six innings with seven strikeouts, one walk and four earned runs on 10 hits.
Ridge Heisler (Mangham, La.) scattered two hits over two innings with a strikeout.
Brent Hebert (Rayne, La.) allowed three earned runs on three hits before McHugh earned the win as he struck out three, walked one and scattered two hits over the final 1.2 innings.

Claverie went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead LSUE, while Westbrook went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Feduccia finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

LSUE and Brookhaven College complete the three-game series at 1 p.m. Sunday.
