EUNICE, La. – Former LSU Eunice standout Connor Benge heard his name called in the final day of the MLB Draft, going in the 13th round to the Miami Marlins. Benge was the 385th overall selection in the draft.
Benge becomes the 64th former LSU Eunice player to move on to a Major League Baseball organization. It's the first year since 2024 that LSUE has had multiple draft selections in one year and the 15th overall.
The right hander played for two seasons at LSU, earning an NCAA National Championship as a member of the 2025 squad. He made 33 appearances with the Tigers, going 3-1 with 28 strikeouts and 16 walks.
He also spent one year at Dallas Baptist, making 22 appearances during the 2024 season for the Patriots. Benge recorded a 1-1 record with 5.73 earned run average with 35 strikeouts and 22 walks, helping DBU win its first ever Conference USA Tournament title and an appearance in the Tuscon Regional.
He made an instant impact in his lone year at LSU Eunice, earning NJCAA All-American honors. Benge posted a team best 11-1 record with a 2.82 earned run average in 2023. The Montgomery, Texas native led the team in innings pitched (70.1) and strikeouts (86). He was named NJCAA National Pitcher of the Week after a 14-strikeout performance.
He's the first LSUE draft pick by the Miami Marlins since Randy LeBlanc was a 16
th round selection in 2010.
