WHARTON, Tx. –  LSU Eunice exploded for seven runs in the top of the third inning as the second-ranked Bengals rolled to an 11-1 win Saturday over host Wharton County Junior College.

Zach Hester (Vidor, Tx.) improved to 3-0 on the season as he limited Wharton to one run on two hits with four strikeouts and a walk over five innings.

LSUE jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, begun when Braden Comeaux (Lake Charles, La.) doubled and scored on an error.

Koi Westbrook (Carencro, La.) singled and scored on an second Wharton error, while Michael Claverie (Denham Springs, La. ) singled and scored when Bo Myers (Zachary, La.) reached on a fielder's choice.

Wharton closed the gap to 3-1 in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by Collier Rutledge.

The Bengals quickly responded in the third inning as Claverie and  Micah McHugh (Zachary, La.) hit solo home runs to begin the seven-run rally.

Myers singled and scored on a hit by Brent Hebert (Rayne, La.), while Joe Faulk (Crowley, La) reached on an error and scored on a hit by Comeaux.

Hebert scored on a ground out by Westbrook as Claverie later doubled in Comeaux and Bourgeois to push LSUE ahead, 10-1.

The Bengals sealed the mercy-rule win as McHugh walked and scored on a single by Bourgeois in the fourth inning.

Claverie went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Comeaux finished 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.

HcHugh went 2-for-2 with a RBI and two runs scored as the third Bengal to grab multiple hits.
