Box Score WHARTON, Tx. – LSU Eunice pitcher Michael Brawner threw a two-hit shutout as the Bengals rolled to a 10-0 mercy-rule win over Angelina College to complete a double header sweep Saturday.
Michael Brawner (Victoria, Tx.) struck out two and allowed a hit just the first and third innings in the five-inning win.
The Bengals grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning as
Michael Claverie (Denham Springs, La. ) singled with two outs and
Hunter Feduccia (Lake Charles, La.) blasted a two RBI home run.
For the second game in a row, the Bengals exploded for seven runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach.
Gavin Bourgeois (Church Point, La.) reached on an error and scored on a single by
Koi Westbrook (Carencro, La.).
Braden Comeaux (Lake Charles, La.) doubled, Claverie was hit by a pitch and then Feduccia hit a grand slam home run for a 7-0 lead.
Bo Myers (Zachary, La.) and
Johnny Johnson (Baton Rouge, La.)both singled while
Anthony Forte (Hoffman Estates, Il.) reached on an error to keep the rally going.
Bourgeois reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Myers and Johnson to cross home plate to push the Bengals up 9-0.
Comeaux homered with two outs in the bottom of the fifth frame to complete the mercy-rule victory.
Feduccia went 2-for-2 with six RBI and two home runs as teammate Comeaux finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
LSUE (13-0) opens a five-game homestead 4 p.m. Friday against Grayson College and follows at 7 p.m. against Kellogg Community College.
The Bengals will face the same two teams on Saturday before Sunday's finale against Kellogg.
