Box Score After suffering its second loss of the season, LSU Eunice regrouped with an 11-4 win over Kellogg Community College Saturday night at Bengal Stadium.
The two teams will complete the series with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
Kellogg (3-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first frame as Tanner Gross reached on a fielder's choice and four batters later Cooper Marshall hit a home run.
The Bengals (15-2) answered with a five-run rally, begun as
Braden Comeaux (Barbe) singled,
Bo Myers (Zachary) walked and
Michael Claverie (Live Oak)was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Comeaux scored on a hit by
Hunter Feduccia (Barbe), while Myers scored when
Cameron Horton (Benton HS) reached on an error.
Claverie scored on a double play and Feduccia scored on a wild pitch to push the Bengals ahead, 4-2.
Anthony Forte (Conant) was hit by a pitch, stole second, advanced on an error and scored when
Jacob Richard (Teurlings Catholic) singled.
The Bengals added two more runs in the bottom of the second, begun when Myers reached on an error and scored on a hit by Claverie.
Claverie later scored on a hit by Horton to push LSUE ahead, 7-2.
The Bengals exploded for four runs in the bottom of the third as Richard singled, Myers walked, Claverie was hit by a pitch and then Feduccia blasted a grand-slam home run.
After being held scoreless for four innings, Kellogg pushed across two runs in the top of the sixth, begun when Joey Nate singled and scored on a ground out.
Alex Walton singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a Clark single to close the gap to 11-4.
Josh Taylor (Teurlings Catholic) (1-0) picked up his first win of the season as he struck out two, walked two and allowed two earned runs on three hits over five innings.
John Hays (Sam Houston) pitched the final two innings as he struck out one and allowed two earned runs on three hits.
Feduccia went 2-for-2 with two walks, five RBI and two runs scored, while
Claverie went 2-for-2 with a RBI and three runs scored.
Richard finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored as the third Bengal batter in the game to record multiple hits.
