Bengals surge past Saluqis

Second-ranked LSU Eunice exploded for a 19-4 weather delay win over Southwest Tennessee at LSU Eunice Friday at Bengal Stadium.
 
LSUE took a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the third Thursday night before the rains forced the game to be concluded on  Friday.


Anthony Forte and  Braden Comeaux both singled before Michael Claverie recorded a RBI single,

Hunter Feduccia singled in Comeaux, while Micah McHugh drove in Claverie.

Cameron Horton singled in Feduccia as  Koi Westbrook followed with a double to plate McHugh.

 Myers singled in Horton as the Bengals grabbed a 6-0 advantage.

LSUE added a run in the bottom of the  third when  Gavin Bourgeois reached on an error. 

Pinch runner Jacob Richard  later scored on SW Tennessee error and the game was halted.

When the game resumed Friday, Ethan Stallings doubled, advanced to third on an error and scored on another double by Jacob
Nobles to close the gap to 6-1.


The Bengals responded with six runs in the bottom of the fourth, begun with back-to-back walks by Feduccia and McHugh.
 Feduccia scored on a balk, while  McHugh scored on a wild pitch. 

With one out, Myers and Richard both walked and Comeaux was hit by pitch to score Myers.

 Claverie cleared the bases with a three RBI double to plate Comeaux, Forte and Richard to push the Bengals ahead 13-1.


Southwest Tennessee scored in the top of the fifth on a solo home run by Andrew Miller.
The Bengals then added six more runs in the bottom of the inning, begun when  Brent Hebert doubled and scored on Richard's triple.

Forte doubled in Richard to keep the rally going.

Comeaux was hit by pitch and  Claverie singled.

Austin Kirkpatrick hit a sacrifice fly to score Forte, while McHugh singled in Comeaux.
 
Horton hit by pitch and later pinch runner Gabe Hannum scored on a wild pitch. 
 
Brent Hebert singled in McHugh to extend the Bengals' lead to 19-3.
 
Southwest Tennessee scored a run in the top of the sixth as Christian Busby reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on an error.
 
SWT scored its final run in the top of the seventh when Ethan Stallings singled, advanced on a passed ball and scored on an error to make the final, 19-4.
 
Braxon Smith earned his second win as he struck out two and allowed five his over three innings.
 
Richard Hebert pitched two innings Friday with two strikeouts, three wins and allowed two earned runs on four hits.
 
Hunter Joubert pitched the final two innings as he fanned ome and allowed two runs on two hits.
 
Claverie went 4-for-5 with four RBI, while McHugh went 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
 
Forte went 2-for-4 with a RBI and three runs scored.
 
Comeaux went 1-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored
