Box Score Murray State College jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to an 8-2 win Friday over LSU Eunice.
The Aggies (18-3) scored three runs in the top of the first inning, begun when Grant Macciocchi singled and scored on a sacrifice by Austin Ferguson.
Robertson singled and later scored when Troy Black singled and advanced on an error. Two batters later, Jacob Padilla singled in Black as Murray State pushed ahead, 3-0.
The Aggies added two more runs in the top of the second as Austin Bartosovsky was hit by pitch and scored on a hit by Robertson.
Macciocchi singled and later stole third before scoring on Ferguson's ground-out as Murray moved ahead by five runs.
The No. 2 Bengals (20-4) closed the gap to 5-1 in the bottom of the inning when
Micah McHugh (Zachary) doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by
Anthony Forte (Conant).
Murray State College responded with two more runs in the top of the third, begun when
Padilla walked and scored on a Bengal error.
Hatheway singled and later scored when Ryan Harrel grounded out as the Aggies moved ahead, 7-1.
Bo Myers (Zachary) hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth as LSUE closed the gap to 7-2.
Murray added an insurance run in the top of the sixth frame when Macciocchi singled and scored when Sean Dixson reached on a fielder's choice.
Braxton Smith (Orangefield) suffered the loss as he only lasted 1.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits.
Myers finished 2-for-4 with a RBI, while Forte went 2-for-3 with a RBI as the two Bengal batters with multiple hits.
NOTE: With Saturday's game rained out, the two teams will face in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bengal Stadium.
