After missing a chance to play on Saturday because of the rain, LSU Eunice jumped out to a 5-2 lead Sunday as the Bengals held on for a 6-4 win over Murray State College in the first game of a doubleheader.

After a scoreless first inning, LSUE (21-4) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second begun when Hunter Feduccia (Barbe) singled, while Cameron Horton (Benton HS) and Micah McHugh (Zachary) walked to load the bases.
 
With one out, Brent Hebert (Cypress Ranch) drew a walk to plate Feduccia as Koi Westbrook (Carencro) hit a ground-out to drive in Horton and give the Bengals a 2-0 advantage.
 
Murray State College (18-4) rallied for two runs in the top of the third to tie the game, begun when Ryan Harrell singled, Austin Bartosovsky walked and both scored on a double by Grant Macciocchi.
 
The Bengals retook a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the inning when Michael Claverie (Live Oak) was hit by a pitch and later scored on a McHugh single.
 
LSUE added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth begun when Westbrook singled and scored on a wild pitch.
 
Braden Comeaux (Barbe) singled and scored on a hit by Claverie to push the Bengals ahead, 5-2.
 
LSUE extended its lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth when Cameron Horton doubled and scored on a ground-out by Gabe Hannum.
 
Murray State closed the gap to 6-3 in the top of the seventh when Macciocchi singled and scored on a hit by Chandler Robertson.
 
The Aggies pulled closer with a run in the top of the eighth inning when Troy Black singled and scored on a two-out hit by Harrel.
 
Murray State threatened in the top of the ninth as Macciocchi singled but the Bengals later turned a double-play to end the game.
 
Zach Hester (Vidor) improved to 6-0 on the season with the win as he struck out two, walked four and allowed three runs on two hits over 5.1 innings.
 
Westbrook (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Claverie (2-for-4, RBI), Horton (2-for-4) and Comeaux (2-for-5) recorded multiple hits in the game.
