Box Score NEW ORLEANS – LSU Eunice scored two runs in the top of the 11th inning as the Bengals grabbed a 5-3 extra-inning win over Delgado Community College Saturday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
With two outs,
Jacob Richard (Teurlings Catholic) hit by pitch, stole second and scored when
Gavin Bourgeois (Notre Dame) reached on an error.
Braden Comeaux (Barbe) then doubled in Bourgeois to give LSUE a two-run advantage before the Bengal defense kept Delgado off the bases to seal the win.
The Dolphins grabbed a 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the third inning as Anthony Valdes singled and scored on a hit by JP LeGreco.
Delgado (27-16) added a run in the fifth inning when Valdes singled and scored on a wild pitch.
Matt Rykaczewski hit a solo home run as the Dolphins moved ahead, 3-0.
The Bengals closed the gap to 3-1 in the top of the seventh when
Brent Hebert (Cypress Ranch) tripled with two outs and then scored on a wild pitch.
LSUE tied the game in the top of the ninth when Hebert walked with two outs and
Micah McHugh (Zachary) followed with a crucial home run, his third of the season.
Bengal starter
Clay Moffitt (Catholic) battled for eight innings as he struck out four, walked one and allowed three earned runs on nine hits.
McHugh (5-0) earned the win as he struck out two over three no-hit innings.
Comeaux (3-for-5) and Hebert (2-for-4) combined for five of the eight Bengal hits.
LSUE (36-8) travels to University of Texas at Tyler on Wednesday for a three-game series
