Box Score TYLER, Texas – LSU Eunice improved to 37-8 on the season as the Bengals grabbed a 6-2 win over the University of Texas at Tyler.
The Bengals scored a run in the top of the first inning when
Gavin Bourgeois (Notre Dame) walked, advanced on a wild pitch before stealing third and crossing home plate on a ground-out by
Braden Comeaux (Barbe).
UT Tyler responded with a run in the bottom of the frame when Jared Pauley singled and scored on a hit by Eric Wimpee.
LSUE exploded for three runs in the second inning, begun when
Koi Westbrook (Carencro) singled with two outs and scored on a double by
Jacob Richard (Teurlings Catholic).
Bo Myers (Zachary) walked before Bourgeois singled the Bengal duo in for a 4-1 advantage.
UT Tyler closed the gap to 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the third when Wimpee doubled and scored on a wild pitch.
The Bengals added two insurance runs in the eighth inning, begun when
Brent Hebert (Cypress Ranch) reached on an error before scoring a mishandled hit by
Micah McHugh (Zachary).
McHugh scored on a sacrifice by Westbrook to push LSUE ahead, 6-2.

Braxton Smith (Orangefield) (5-3) earned the win as he went six innings with nine strikeouts, three walks and two earned runs on six hits.
Westbrook (2-for-3, RBI), Jacob Richard (2-for-4, RBI) and Bourgeois (1-for-3, 2 RBI) led the Bengal bats.
