Box Score On a day that was designated as "Strike Out Autism", LSU Eunice pitchers struck out 19 batters Friday as the Bengals recorded an 11-5, 3-0 doubleheader sweep over Tyler Junior College.
The two teams will conclude the series at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bengal Stadium.
After four scoreless innings, Tyler (29-19) pushed a run across in the top of the fifth when Colton Whitehouse singled and scored on a double by Blaze Beason.
LSUE (42-8) responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, begun when
Hunter Feduccia (Barbe) and
Gabe Hannum (Zachary) both walked and
Micah McHugh (Zachary) singled to load the bases.
Koi Westbrook (Carencro) walked to plate Feduccia, while a free base to
Anthony Forte (Conant) allowed Hannum to cross home plate for a 2-1 Bengal lead.
LSUE added four more runs in the bottom of the seventh, sparked by a triple from Westbrook who scored when
Brent Hebert (Cypress Ranch) reached on a fielder's choice.
Bourgeois singled and Feduccia followed with a 2 RBI single to drive in Hebert and Bourgeois.
Michael Claverie (Live Oak) walked and later scored when Feduccia was picked off at second base as the Bengals pushed ahead, 6-1.
The Apaches answered with a four-run eighth inning to close the gap to 6-5 as Tyler had four hits but left two on base.
The Bengals then put the game out of reach with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Hannum walked and pinch runner
Johnny Johnson (Runnels) stole second and scored on an error.
McHugh singled,
Cameron Horton (Benton HS) reached on a fielder's choice and both scored on an Apache error.
Brent Hebert singled, advanced to second on an error and scored on a hit by
Braden Comeaux (Barbe), who later scored on a wild pitch to push the Bengals ahead, 11-5.

Ridge Heisler (Mangham) (6-0) struck out eight, walked three and allowed three earned runs on three hits over seven innings.
Brent Hebert finished 3-for-4 with a RBI, while McHugh went 2-for-4 as the two Bengals with multiple hits.

Braxton Smith (Orangefield) earned a complete-game win as he struck out nine, walked one and scattered three hits over seven innings to help lead LSUE to a 3-0 win over Tyler Junior College.
After three scoreless innings, the Bengals grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth when Feduccia singled, stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored on a double by McHugh.
LSUE added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when Feduccia singled, Hannum reached on an error and both scored on a Tyler miscue.
The Bengals finished with seven hits, led by Comeaux (2-for-3), Feduccia (2-for-3, 2 RS), McHugh (2-for-3, RBI) and Hannum (1-for-3, RS).
