Box Score TYLER, Texas – LSU Eunice sealed the series Sunday against Tyler Junior College with a 5-1 win over the Apaches.
The Bengals (33-7) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when
Gavin Bourgeois (Notre Dame) singled and scored on a sacrifice by
Michael Claverie (Live Oak).
The Apaches (25-11) tied the game in the second inning when Colton Whitehouse walked and scored on a hit by Matt Mikusek.
LSUE moved ahead 2-1 in the top of the third inning as
Bo Myers (Zachary) doubled and scored on a hit by
Braden Comeaux (Barbe).
The Bengals added three insurance runs in the top of the sixth to push ahead, 5-1.
Bourgeois tripled and scored on a double by Comeaux, while
Hunter Feduccia (Barbe) walked and scored on a single by
Brent Hebert (Cypress Ranch) (Barbe).
Hannum reached on a fielder's choice and crossed home plate on a single by Koi Westbrook for the final run of the game.
Clay Moffitt (Catholic) (4-1) pitched six innings to earn the win as he struck out five, walked one and allowed one earned run on three hits.
Hunter Joubert (Parkview Baptist) (1 hit) and Hebert (1 strikeout) combined to pitch the final three shutout innings.
Bourgeois (3-for-5), Comeaux (3-for-5, 2 RBI) and Hebert (2-for-4, RBI) were the three Bengal batters with multiple hits.
LSUE faces Wharton County Junior College at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bengal Stadium.
