Fourth Quarter Defense Paces Bengals To Rout Of ETBU

Box Score

EUNICE, La. – The Bengals used a stingy defensive effort in the fourth quarter to blow past East Texas Baptist, 97-55.  The win moves LSUE's current win streak to 13 games.

The 13 consecutive victories ties for the second longest win streak in program history.

The Bengals (16-2) limited ETBU to just eight points in the final frame as LSUE outscored the Tigers 25-8.  Jaleya Gold led the way with 12 of her game-high 23 points coming in the fourth quarter.

The two sides were deadlocked at 22-22 midway through the second before a pivotal 10-0 run by LSU Eunice helped push the Bengals ahead for good.   LSUE held a 43-28 edge going into intermission.

Along with Gold, the Bengals frontcourt dominated play thanks to double-digit nights from Riley James (16 points) and Bethany Broussard (18 points).

LSU Eunice now shifts its attention to MISS-LOU Conference play with its league opener set for Wednesday at home against Baton Rouge Community College.  Tip-off from the HPRE Center is set for 6:00PM.  Fans can also find the latest Bengals information on social media via Twitter (@LSUEBengalsWBB), Facebook (@LSUEuniceBasketball) and Instagram (@LSUEBengals).
