Box Score SUMMIT, Ms. – The backcourt pair of Arianna Dargin and Sissy Saucier netted 50 points combined as LSU Eunice earned a 92-82 win over Southwest Mississippi at the Coca-Cola Classic on the campus of SMCC.
Dargin (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) led all scorers with a career-best 29 points on the night.
After a slow start to the game, the Bengals roared out to a 15-point lead using a 22-6 run midway through the first quarter to go up 25-10 with 2:54 left. Dargin and
Saucier (Ragley, LA, South Beauregard HS) combined for 18 of the team's 30 points in the quarter.
Southwest Mississippi would not go down easily, clawing with two points late in the first half and taking a brief lead in the third quarter. Tootie Rankin led the Bears with 20 points on the night.
LSUE held a 49-44 into the locker rooms, before a quick 7-0 spurt helped Southwest own its first lead of the game since early in the first, 51-49. The Bengals responded with a 11-2 run to close the third and take a 66-60 lead into the final frame.
The Bengals would hold off multiple comeback attempts by the Bears in the fourth as LSUE earned the road victory.
Saucier would finish with a career's best 21 points while
Tremeeka Spikes (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) chipped in 10 points.
