Box Score EUNICE, La. – Ten players scored at least a point as LSU Eunice virtually led wire-to-wire in an offensive slugfest against Holmes CC, 100-94. It's the third time the Bengals (2-2) have eclipsed the 100-point barrier under head coach Amanda Clemons.
LSUE and Holmes went back and forth for the first few minutes of the first quarter before the Bengals broke the game open with their full-court pressure defense.
Kyler Walker's (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) steal and lay-up pushed LSUE's lead to 17-9 with 4:21 left in the quarter.
The Bulldogs would battle back behind 16 first half points from Janae Collier to get within one point. An 11-3 LSUE run would run the lead up to double digits, 45-32, before taking a 49-41 halftime advantage.
Sissy Saucier (Ragley, LA, South Beauregard HS) scored 14 of her 23 points in the first half to pace a Bengal offense that saw eight different point scorers in the half and 21 bench points.
The LSUE offense would ignite again out of the locker rooms, using a 14-2 run to start the half and go up 19 points, 62-43. A late rally would get Holmes within striking range but an 11-for-20 effort by LSUE at the free throw line in the second half would keep the Bulldogs at bay.
Arianna Dargin (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) led the Bengals with 25 points on the night on 26 shots.
Christina Canale (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) (11 points) and
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) (11 points) also recorded a double-digit point effort.
The Bengals would fire an impressive 10-for-28 from three-point range, including three from both Dargin and Saucier.
Collier would net a game-high 34 points to pace the Holmes offense.
