Box Score BOSSIER, La. – A second half surge from Bossier Parish was too much for LSU Eunice to fight off, falling to the Cavaliers 87-81 in a road contest at Billy Montgomery Gym.
A third quarter steal and lay-up by
Sissy Saucier (Ragley, LA, South Beauregard HS) put LSUE in striking distance of the Cavaliers, 47-46. That's the closest the Bengals would get as Monette Bolden would power Bossier Parish with 16 of her team-high 23 points coming in the second half.
Saucier shined in the setback, recording her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Arianna Dargin (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) led all scorers on the night with another 20-plus point performance, pouring in 23 points including an impressive 11-for-16 from the free throw line.
LSUE found itself in an early first half hole before a furious 11-0 run crept the Bengals within one point, 34-33. The Bengals trailed 43-40 at halftime and would get within three once more late in the third quarter.
A physical affair with 53 fouls, both teams combined to shoot 66 free throws with LSUE going 23-for-37 (62.2%) at the line.
Bethany Broussard (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) pumped in 16 points while
JaNaijia Marks (DeRidder, LA, DeRidder HS) tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
LSUE returns home for a return date by Southwest Mississippi at 6:00PM on Monday, November 26. The Bengals delivered a 92-82 defeat of the Bears at their home tournament, the Coca-Cola Classic, earlier this month.
