LSUE's Defense Key In Win vs. SW Mississippi

Box Score

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice's patented trap defense forced 26 turnovers to help pave the way in a 70-55 victory over Southwest Mississippi.  It is the Bengals' second win over the Bears, beating Southwest earlier this month on the road.

The Bengals (3-3) used their trapping defense to great effect, forcing 17 Southwest turnovers in the first half alone.  LSUE built as large as an eight-point lead, 20-12 after Southwest clawed to within a bucket.

Sissy Saucier (Ragley, LA, South Beauregard HS) and Arianna Dargin (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) combined to score 15 of the team's 26 points as LSUE held a 26-21 advantage at intermission.

LSUE would use the free throw line to help extend its lead to double-digits for the first time in the game by going 8-for-12 from the line.  Saucier's three-pointer at the buzzer helped push the Bengals lead to 45-34 at the end of the third quarter.

The offense came alive after half, shooting 41 percent (14-for-34) from the floor.  Saucier would finish the night with 16 points to lead the Bengals as ten players recorded at least a point.

LSUE will be back in action Thursday, December 13 as the Bengals travel to Cedar Valley College for a 5:00PM tip-off.  Fans can find the latest Bengals information on social media via Twitter (@LSUEBengalsWBB), Facebook (@LSUEuniceBasketball) and Instagram (@LSUEBengals).
