Box Score 2 LANCASTER, Texas – LSU Eunice used a similar recipe in both games against Cedar Valley College to the same effect. A mix of defense and strong offensive performances helped pave the way for a pair of road wins against the Suns.
LSUE won a Thursday matchup 82-68, followed by a Friday afternoon victory 92-73.
The Bengals are on a three game win streak as they return home for a long stretch inside the HPRE Center, playing 10 of their next 12 games inside the friendly confines. LSUE will be back in action Monday, December 17 as the Bengals host Bossier Parish CC at 5:30PM.
Dec. 13 vs. Cedar Valley College
The duo of
Sissy Saucier (Ragley, LA, South Beauregard HS) and
Arianna Dargin (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) combined for 26 points in the second half alone to help LSUE push past Cedar Valley College 82-68. The pair were part of a Bengal lineup that produced four double digit scorers.
LSUE trailed 54-52 heading into the final stanza before turning it up a gear, holding as large as a 15-point lead. Saucier and Dargin had 18 of the team's 30 points in that final frame.
The Bengals went back and forth with Cedar Valley in the first half, holding a slim 25-24 advantage at the halftime break. The LSUE defense would help the Bengals pull away, holding the Suns to just 23.7 percent (18-for-76) from the floor.
Saucier finished with a team-high 19 points and 9 rebounds while Dargin poured in 14 points.
Bethany Broussard (Iowa, LA, Iowa HS) (18 points) and
JaNaijia Marks (DeRidder, LA, DeRidder HS) (13 points) were the other double digit point scorers.
Dec. 14 vs. Cedar Valley College
A balanced team effort helped LSU Eunice cruise to a near wire-to-wire victory over Cedar Valley, 92-73. The Bengals saw 12 different players score at least a point, including four in double figures.
LSUE exploded out of the game with a 35-point first quarter, led by nine points in the frame from Sissy Saucier. The guard would finish with 11 points on the evening.
The Bengals held a 50-44 edge at half and would tighten its defensive grasp out of the locker rooms, limiting the Suns to no more than 16 points each quarter. Cedar Valley would shoot 28 percent (12-for-42) from the field in the second half.
Bethany Broussard would score a team-high 17 points while Arianna Dargin (15 points) and
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) (12 points) also record a double digit scoring effort.
