Fast Start Triggers Win vs. BRCC, Ties Progarm Mark For Win Streak

Box Score

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU Eunice would not be denied tying a program record for wins as the Bengals nearly went wire-to-wire in a 76-64 road win at Baton Rouge CC.  The Bengals have tied the school mark with 16 victories in a row.

LSUE (19-2) will go for a new program standard next Friday in a road date at Pearl River CC.

Throughout the majority of the games during the Bengals' streak, LSUE has raced out to an early command and never looked back.  It was no different against the Bears.

After both teams traded early baskets, LSU Eunice triggered a 15-2 run to jump ahead of BRCC.  LSUE showed its versatility in that stretch with seven players scoring.  The Bengals kept their lead in double digits, 24-14, after the first quarter.

Rylie James rebounded from a one-point game against Delgado to bucket 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting.  The sophomore paced LSUE with 10 points in the first half to help the Bengals take a 45-29 lead into the halftime break.

The defense shut down the potent backcourt BRCC duo of Celica Sterling and Kayla Watson.  The guards combined for 27 points on 7-for-24 shooting after leading the Bears 47 of the team's 64 in the two teams' meeting last week.

Jaleya Gold (15 points) and Sissy Saucier (10 points) also netted double digit figures for the Bengals.

LSUE never allowed Baton Rouge to get back within nine points for the remainder of the game.

Friday's game at Pearl River is set for a 5:30PM tip-off.  Randy Guillory will have the live audio stream on the Bayou Sports Network.   Fans can find the latest Bengals information on social media via Twitter (@LSUEBengalsWBB), Facebook (@LSUEuniceBasketball) and Instagram (@LSUEBengals).
