Bengals Set Home Win Record During Sophomore Night

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice used a strong second half effort to take down Baton Rouge CC, 67-59, on sophomore night.  The victory helped the Bengals notch their 17th home win of the season, a new program record.
 
The Bengals found themselves trailing at half 36-32 thanks to a hot start by BRCC star Celica Sterling.  The guard 13 of her 15 points in the first half to help the Bears take the early advantage.
 
But as it's been the case most the season inside the HPRE Center, the second half belonged to LSUE.  The Bengals outscored BRCC 18-10 in the third quarter thanks to a balanced effort with seven players scoring.
 
The fourth quarter, however, belonged to the freshmen.  The duo of Sissy Saucier and Bethany Broussard scored 12 of the team's points in the frame including a crucial three pointer by Saucier to give LSUE a late four-point lead.
 
Saucier was one of three Bengals to score in double figures joined by Arianna Dargin (10 points) and Rylie James (15 points).
 
James was one of five sophomores to play their final game inside the HPRE Center.  The 2nd leading scorer in LSUE history was joined by Gabrielle Harrington, Breanna Doucet, Jaleya Gold and Tachiana Ledet for a pre-game ceremony and in the starting five.
 
BRCC's Kayla Watson led all scorers on the night with 18 points.
