Clark, Sheridan Provide Punch In Win Against Murray State College

EUNICE, La. – Chance Clark collected half of LSU Eunice's three hits as the Bengals scored three unanswered runs to beat Murray State College, 3-1.  LSUE was outhit 11-6 but a strong performance from starting pitcher Andrew Sheridan helped squash any sustained innings by the Aggies.

Sheridan improved to 5-0 on the season after throwing six innings, giving up one earned run off eight hits and two walks.  The Sulphur HS product also struck out three batters.

The freshman worked in traffic for most of his outing as MSC left 11 runners on base.  The Aggies collected at least a hit in each inning Sheridan threw and was able to get out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth inning.  Murray State scored its lone run in the fifth inning after a consecutive two-out hits allowed Gehrig Octavio to score on a Tyler Smith double to right field.

The Bengals responded with a pair of runs in the sixth inning.  Chance Clark and Brent Hebert collected back-to-back singles to put runners on first and third with no outs.  Mason Templet lifted a high fly ball to right field that allowed Clark to tie the game 1-1.  After a Slate Fuller walk, Cameron Horton belted a scorching double to the wall in right center, scoring Hebert and giving LSUE the 2-1 lead.

LSUE had only managed one hit off Billy Wall before chasing the Aggies' starter with the three-hit sixth.  Wall went 5.1 innings, giving up two earned runs off four hits and three walks while striking out eight batters.

Clark and the Bengals did more damage an inning later after Jacob Richard belted a one-out double.  The South Beauregard HS product, Clark, single to right that allowed Richard to score but was tagged out trying to advance to second.

Clark went 3-for-4 on the night with a run scored and RBI.

LSU Eunice pieced together the final three innings with the relief duo of Brent Hebert and Landon Clifton.  The hard-throwing right handers combined for six strike outs with Clifton picking up a one-inning save by fanning all three batters he faced.

The Bengals and Aggies will conclude the weekend with a 1:00PM Sunday matinee from Bengal Stadium.  Live video can be found on Bengal All-Access while the Bayou Sports Network will have an audio feed with Randy Guillory on the call.
