Homers Help Bengals Power Past Bossier Parish

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice blasted a trio of home runs including two by Cameron Horton in a 11-0 win over Bossier Parish CC.  It was the Bengals' (23-4) second consecutive run-rule shutout, beating Baton Rouge CC last night by the same margin.

The power hitting duo of Cameron Horton and Mason Templet again paced the Bengals attack.  The two combined for four hits, three home runs and seven RBIs after tallying six hits and six RBIs last night.

Templet blasted his third home run of the season in the first inning with a towering shot down the right field line.   The two-out, two-run home run brought in Johnny Johnson who led off the game with a single.

Horton led off the second inning with a deep drive over the pine trees in right center field, his first home run since February 1 against Southwest Tennessee.  LSUE scored two more runs off a pair of sacrifice flies by Jacob Richard and Chance Clark.

LSUE starter Noah Beason held the Cavalier bats in check, scattering just two hits in four full innings pitched.  Beason (2-0) also added five strikeouts on the evening.  Dane Dixon, Justin Barton and Jacob Spell all threw one inning as the Bengal arms combined to not issue a walk.

After being held scoreless in the third inning, LSUE put up two runs in the fourth off of a Chance Clark sacrifice groundout and Cameron Horton's run scoring single.

Horton would end the game in the seven on a walk-off three-run home run to right center field, scoring Nick Bellina and Mason Templet.  The home run was Horton's team-leading fifth of the season.

LSUE continues its nine-game homestand with a weekend series against Coastal Bend College.  The Bengals host a Friday doubleheader set for 3:00PM followed by a Saturday matinee at 12:00PM.  Fans can also follow the baseball team's Twitter (@LSUEBengalsBSB), Facebook (@LSUEuniceBaseball) and Instagram (@LSUEBengals) accounts.
