Box Score BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU Eunice pulled away from Baton Rouge CC in the second half of its MISS-LOU Conference opener to coast to an 84-75 victory at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center on Wednesday.
The win is the Bengals' (10-3) fourth straight win over their in-state rival, the longest for LSUE against BRCC.
The two teams were gridlocked for most of the first half, tied after the first quarter and LSUE holding a slim 44-42 edge at intermission.
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) provided the offensive punch in the first half, scoring 15 of her game-high 17 points in the first two quarters.
LSUE began to pull away in the third quarter thanks to seven points from
De'Asia Dixon (Shreveport, LA, Huntington HS) in the frame. The sophomore ended the night with 14 points as the Bengals took a 63-58 lead into the final quarter.
Ava Jones (Carencro, LA, Carencro HS) helped LSUE push ahead comfortably with seven points in the fourth quarter, part of her 12 points in the contest. Jones, Dixon and Richard were the lone Bengals with double digit point efforts.
Christina Canale (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) chipped in eight points.
AH'Million Cosby paced Baton Rouge CC with 16 points.
LSU Eunice will open the home portion of MISS-LOU play Saturday when Southern-Shreveport comes to town. The women will open the doubleheader at 2:00PM from inside the HPRE Center. The game can be seen live on Bengal All-Access or heard on the Bayou Sports Network with Randy Guillory on the call.
