Box Score 2 EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice opened up the 2019 portion of the schedule with pair of home wins over Coastal Bend College this weekend. The Bengals improved to 8-3 on the season and 5-1 inside the HPRE Center.
The Bengals offense exploded in a 92-65 Friday night victory followed by a late defensive effort to preserve a 70-65 win on Saturday afternoon. LSUE rides a current six game win streak into the final stretch before MISS-LOU Conference play.
LSU Eunice will travel to Holmes CC for a mid-week tilt in Mississippi this Tuesday at 6:00PM. The Bengals defeated the Bulldogs 100-94 in Eunice on November 17.
Jan. 4 vs. Coastal Bend College
Sissy Saucier (Ragley, LA, South Beauregard HS) poured in 24 points to lead a hot shooting effort by LSU Eunice in a 92-65 Friday night win over Coastal Bend. The Bengals shot at a 40 percent clip for the game which included a slow start in the first quarter.
LSUE held a slim 12-11 edge in the first quarter before exploding for the first of two 30-point quarters. The big second frame helped the Bengals take a comfortable 42-29 edge at intermission.
Saucier led an LSUE offense that connected on eight three pointers, including three from the sophomore as well as
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS). Richard scored 15 points off the bench.
Miya McKinney (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) scored in her first action as an LSUE Bengal. The Ville Platte native missed all of last season with a knee injury, scoring three points in her debut.
Jan. 5 vs. Coastal Bend College
LSUE held off a furious rally from Coastal Bend to secure a 70-65 decision, the Bengals' sixth straight victory.
The Bengals held a 63-46 lead after Sissy Saucier buried a corner three pointer early in the fourth quarter. Coastal Bend would rally to make it a 68-65 contest with under a minute left. A pair of free throws in the final minute and two defensive stops helped preserve the win.
De'Asia Dixon (Shreveport, LA, Huntington HS) led the Bengals cause with 12 points while Claralee Richard helped with ten points and nine rebounds.
LSUE roared out to an early first half lead, holding as large as a 17 points edge including a 43-31 margin at intermission.
