Reserves Shine In Runaway Win over Southern-Shreveport

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice's bench accounted for 87 points as the Bengals blew past Southern-Shreveport 125-76 on Saturday inside the HPRE Center.  The 125 points are the second most ever in school history, set in 2006 (126 points).
 
The win extended LSUE's (17-3) extended its win streak to 15 games, one off tying a school record that was tied by last year's team.
 
The Bengals found themselves in a 7-2 hole early before the reserves resurrected the offense.  LSUE rattled off a 14-0 run capitalized by JaNaijia Marks (DeRidder, LA, DeRidder HS) three pointer from the top of the key with 5:48 left in the first quarter.  LSUE would grab control of the game, taking a 58-44 lead at the half time break.
 
Miya McKinney (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) paced the Bengals in the first half and the game, scoring 13 of her team-high 25 points in first half.

LSUE would see its lead jump past 30 points in the third quarter during a 30-9 spurt to push its advantage to 88-53.  Defense was key during the second half as the relentless full court press caused 30 turnovers including 21 steals.
 
Le'Shenae Stubblefield (Delhi, LA, Delhi HS) caused havoc on the defensive end, forcing nine steals as well as scoring 13 points off the bench.  Jordyn Cross (Pitkin, LA, University Academy of Central Louisiana) shined as a reserved as well, tallying eight points and nine assists.
 
Six players finished in double figures, including Jasmyne Dawson (Shreveport, LA, Huntington HS) (11 points) and Tremeeka Spikes (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) (13 points).
 
LSUE will wrap up the regular season this Wednesday as it hosts Delgado CC.  The Bengals and Dolphins doubleheader will begin at 5:30PM inside the HPRE Center.  The game will be broadcast on Bengal All-Access and can be heard on the Bayou Sports Network.
