Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice never looked back after a 14-1 run helped secure the lead as the Bengals run past Delgado CC, 83-62, on Wednesday inside the HPRE Center. The victory is LSUE's (12-3) tenth straight as the Bengals improved to 3-0 in LCCAC play.
Trailing 12-6 in the first quarter, LSUE used its trap defense and transition offense to rattle off a 14-1 run.
Ava Jones (Carencro, LA, Carencro HS) and
Miya McKinney (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) connected on two critical fast break opportunities to help LSUE build momentum. McKinney scored a team-high 13 points off of the bench, while Jones chipped in eight points as well as five assists.
The Bengals would see its lead slip to three points, 22-19, early in the second quarter before a 12-4 spurt finally put LSUE up by double digits. LSUE would hold a 40-30 advantage at halftime.
De'Asia Dixon (Shreveport, LA, Huntington HS) would help put away the Dolphins in the fourth quarter as the sophomore scored eight of her 12 points in the final frame and give the Bengals their fourth 20-plus point victory of the season.
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) (12 points) and
Sissy Saucier (Ragley, LA, South Beauregard HS) (10 points) would also record double-digit point efforts for the Bengals.
LSUE will close out a three-game conference home stand Saturday when Baton Rouge CC comes to Eunice. The women will open up a doubleheader with the Bears starting at 2:00PM inside the HPRE Center. Both games can be seen live on Bengal All-Access and heard on the Bayou Sports Network.
