SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Eunice women's basketball used a strong fourth quarter effort to push past Southern-Shreveport and score an 80-56 victory on Saturday at LSUS's Pilot Gym.  The Bengals (13-6) stayed unbeaten in the first week of LCCAC play as LSUE also saw its current win streak grow to four games.
 
The Bengals held a slim 55-52 lead entering the fourth quarter before turning in arguably its most complete frame of the season.  LSUE outscored the Jaguars 25-4 headlined by Ava Jones' (Carencro, LA, Carencro HS) eight points to help close out the game.
 
Jones scored 12 points while stuffing the stat sheet with eight rebounds, nine assists and five steals.
 
LSUE stifled SU-Shreveport on the offensive end, holding the Jaguars to just 25.7 percent shooting from the field (18-for-70).  The Bengals forced 27 turnovers including 18 steals and turning that into 38 points off turnovers.
 
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) shouldered the load for LSUE in the first half, scoring 12 of her team-high 20 points in the before halftime to help LSUE take a 45-29 advantage into the locker rooms.
 
Alona Washington (Gonzales, LA, Ascension Christian HS) chipped in 16 points while Le'Shenae Stubblefield (Delhi, LA, Delhi HS) enjoyed another great all-around outing with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and six steals.
 
The Bengals three-game road swing continues this Wednesday with a trek to New Orleans to face Delgado.  The doubleheader at the Williamson Center is scheduled to begin at 5:30PM with the women's game.
