Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice women's basketball saw five players score double-digits as the Bengals rolled past Southern-Shreveport, 81-64, on Wednesday inside the HPRE Center. The Bengals (16-6, 5-0 LCCAC) stayed unbeaten in conference play and won their 24th consecutive LCCAC contest.
It was also LSUE's 10th 80-plus point outing of the season.
The Bengals used a hot-shooting first half from
Alona Washington (Gonzales, LA, Ascension Christian HS) to help push ahead to a 20-12 first quarter advantage. Washington sank all three attempts from three-point range in the first quarter, making five in the first half alone for a team-high 15 points on the game as the Bengals roared to 44-22 halftime lead.
The long-range game was a point of emphasis throughout for LSUE as the Bengals nailed nine from downtown.
Ava Jones (Carencro, LA, Carencro HS) and
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) would provide a steady stream of offense after the break as the duo would combine for 14 of the team's 36 second-half points. Jones would tally 12 points with Richard adding 13.
Le'Shenae Stubblefield (Delhi, LA, Delhi HS) (12 points) and
Miya McKinney (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) (10 points) would also record double-digit point efforts.
