Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice women's basketball used a season-high 12 three-pointers to help pave the way in a 108-72 landslide win over Delgado CC. With the win, the Bengals (17-6, 6-0 LCCAC) clinch at least a share of the LCCAC regular season title.
LSUE can secure its third consecutive outright conference crown on Wednesday with second place BRCC (3-3 LCCAC) coming to Eunice.
The Bengals roared out to fast start in the wire-to-wire win over the Dolphins. LSUE jumped out to a 21-3 start, headlined by 12 first quarter points from
Alona Washington (Gonzales, LA, Ascension Christian HS). The freshman would score a season-high 20 point on the afternoon.
The first-half flurry also came thanks in large part to
Claralee Richard (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS). The sophomore bucketed four of her seven three-pointers before halftime for a game-high 26 points. The seven three-pointers made tied for fourth most in a single-game in program history.
LSUE held a 59-31 halftime edge only to build on it in the third quarter.
Ava Jones (Carencro, LA, Carencro HS) led the way in the frame with eight points, part of a 23-point effort from the sophomore.
Miya McKinney (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) was the other double-digit point scorer with 13 on the afternoon.
The Bengals will close out the home portion of the regular season on Wednesday against BRCC. The sophomore night activities will start before the scheduled 5:30PM tip-off. It's also LSUE's "Pink Out" night, as fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
