Box Score EUNICE, La. – A fourth quarter cold streak sealed LSU Eunice's fate as the Bengals' fell to Baton Rouge CC 69-64 on Wednesday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals (7-9, 0-1 LCCAC) are the reigning four-time regular season champion in the Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC).
The loss was the Bengals' first to the Bears since the 2018-19 season, snapping a 13-game win streak.
LSU Eunice broke a 34-34 tie at halftime, roaring to a double-digit lead in the third quarter. The Bengals outscored BRCC 20-6 in the frame, spearheaded by seven of a team-high 13 points from
Rylee Jinks (Grant, LA, Fairview HS). LSUE would lead by as many as 15 points in the second half.
The Bears would slowly chip away as Trinity Harold's three pointer with four minutes remaining would be the last points scored by the Bengals. Baton Rouge would close out the game on an 11-0 run. LSUE would have two chances to either take the lead or tie in the final minute but could not convert.
Harold (Denham Springs, LA, Walker HS) would record a double-digit point effort with 12 in the game, 11 coming in the second half.
Tahjea Smith (Texas City, TX, Texas City HS) also pumped in a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
LSUE will aim to bounce back in LCCAC play on Saturday as Delgado comes to town for an afternoon doubleheader.
