EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball used a fourth quarter flurry to come close but could not overcome a slow start as the Bengals fall 73-62 to Angelina College on Tuesday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals (1-7) opened up a four-game homestand to close out the 2022 portion of the regular season.
The Bengals sat tied with the Roadrunners, 5-5, midway through the first quarter. Angelina would rattle off a 12-0 in just under four minutes to take a double-digit lead over the Bengals, going up 35-23 at the halftime break.
LSUE would start to heat up in the fourth quarter, trimming its deficit to four points, 64-60, with 1:37 left in the game.
Princis Goff (Atlanta, LA, Atlanta HS) paced the Bengals' charge scoring nine of her game-high 18 points in the final frame.
The Bengals could only grab two free throws made in the final stages of the game as Angelina pushed ahead for the victory.
Braille Washington (Rayne, LA, Rayne HS) was the other Bengal in double digits as the freshman netted 14 points off the bench.
LSUE is back in action at home on Friday as the Bengals welcome Coastal Bend College to town for a 5:30PM tip-off.
