PINEVILLE, La. – After racing out to a hot start to the campaign, the LSU Eunice offense hit a bump in the road during a 2-1 setback at Louisiana College on Monday. The Bengals (13-2) and LCU rekindled the series after a ten-year hiatus.
LSU Eunice was held to just two hits on the evening, the least amount of hits since being limited to a hit against Wallace State on March 2, 2018.
The Bengals were first to strike on the scoreboard as
Christian Gonzalez (Breaux Bridge, LA, Breaux Bridge HS) drove in
Darian Richard (Rayne, LA, Rayne HS) on a sacrifice fly to left field. LSUE would have four players in scoring position but could only get the single run home on the night.
LCU would tie the game in the third off one of three Bengal errors, then take the lead an inning later on a sacrifice groundout.
Aiden Vosburg (Jarreau, LA, Catholic-Pointe Coupee HS) was saddled with the loss after tossing 3.2 innings, giving up the two runs off five hits and a walk.
Miles Clack (Katy, TX, Seven Lake HS) and
Jase McDonald (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) would shut down the Wildcat bats, going 4.1 combined innings of relief with 11 punchouts including eight from Clack.
LSUE aims to regroup this weekend during a four-game series with Jefferson College starting with a Saturday doubleheader at 1:00PM. All games can be seen on the LSUE Digital Network presented by Opelousas General Health.
