Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball clawed back into a tie of the LCCAC lead after blowing past Baton Rouge CC, 71-55, on Saturday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals (10-9 overall, 3-1 LCCAC) delivered the Bears their first loss in conference.
LSUE started and closed the in impressive fashion with a wire-to-wire victory. The Bengals raced out to a quick 17-4 lead in the first quarter, then used a dominate final frame after BRCC would get within five points in the third.
Trinity Harold (Denham Springs, LA, Walker HS) sparked the fast start for LSUE with a trio of makes from downtown, part of a 13-point game for the sophomore. Harold made four of the team's seven three pointers (7-for-22). LSUE would take a 34-24 lead into the halftime break.
The inside duo of
Tahjea Smith (Texas City, TX, Texas City HS) and
Vanessa Duhe (Lacassine, LA, Lacassine HS) would frustrated BRCC in the paint, combining for 33 points. Smith netted yet another double-double with 17 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Abigail Lynch (New Caney, TX, New Caney HS) was the other Bengal to net a double-digit point effort with 12, including three 3-pointers made.
The Bengals defense may have made the biggest impact on the game, shutting down BRCC to just 18-for-66 (23.4%) shooting including 0-for-11 from three-point range.
LSU Eunice will hit the road on Wednesday for a game at Delgado CC. The Bengals and Dolphins are set for a 5:30PM tip-off.
