EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice gave up a big frame late as Baton Rouge CC rallied for an 11-6 decision on Friday at Bengal Stadium.
Everything was going LSUE's way in the first half of the weekend series opener as the Bengals held a 4-0 lead into the sixth inning. The Bengals racked up seven hits, highlighted by
Brandon Mooney's (Madisonville, LA, Mandeville HS) lasered solo home run to right field in the fifth.
Kole Myers (Jennings, LA, Jennings HS),
Aiden Vosburg (Jarreau, LA, Catholic-Pointe Coupee HS) and
Michael Fontenot (Kinder, LA, Kinder HS) also contributed to the early offense with RBIs.
BRCC would creep to within 4-2 in the seventh inning, before racing away from the Bengals in the eighth. Baton Rouge would score nine runs in the eighth inning, eight coming with two outs. The Bears used three walks, an error, a hit by pitch, two wild pitches and five hits in the frame.
Reed Eason (West Monroe, LA, West Monroe HS) would drive in Brandon Mooney to score another Bengal run in the eighth before LSUE would leave the bases loaded.
Kole Myers (Jennings, LA, Jennings HS) went 3-for-3 for the game to lead the LSUE offense while Mooney and Eason both had multi-hit games.
