EUNICE, La. – The LSU Eunice Women's Basketball turned to defense to help take a 73-54 victory over Delgado CC on Saturday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals (5-13 overall, 1-1 LCCAC) grabbed their first home of the season in their HPRE conference opener.
The Bengals would catch fire in the second quarter and never look back, using an 18-3 run to turn a deficit into a double digit lead, 31-19.
Braille Washington (Rayne, LA, Rayne HS) would lead the surge, scoring nine of her team-high 19 points in the quarter. The Bengals would take a 38-27 lead into the halftime break.
The LSUE defense would force 11 steals, 20 turnovers and score 15 points off the turnovers. The Bengals also held the Dolphins 20-for-62 (32.3%) shooting from the field.
Princis Goff (Atlanta, LA, Atlanta HS) would stuff the stat sheet, flirting with a triple double. The freshman scored 13 points, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and dish out six assists.
Kaylan Jack (Baton Rouge, LA, Madison Prep Academy) was the other double digit scorer for LSUE, tallying 17 points off 5-for-8 shooting from three-point range.
LSUE's lead would hover around 20 points for the majority of the second half.
The Bengals return to LCCAC play this Wednesday with a road date at Southern-Shreveport.
