SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball continued its second half surge this season as the Bengals upended Southern-Shreveport, 72-70, on Wednesday.  LSUE (6-13 overall, 2-1 LCCAC) has won four of its last five contest and currently sit tied atop the conference standings after the first of three round robin rotations.

The Bengals would find themselves down by as many eight points in the third quarter before forcing what would be a back-and-forth finish.  A 10-2 run midway through the frame would tie up the game 43-43 as the combination of
Princis Goff (Atlanta, LA, Atlanta HS) and
Dayla Simon (Longville, LA, South Beauregard HS) would score 16 of the team's 22 points in the third.

Neither team would lead by as many as three points in the second half before
Shayla Hickerson's (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) basket and a three-point play by
Braille Washington (Rayne, LA, Rayne HS) would give LSUE a 68-63 lead late in the fourth quarter.

Goff would close out the game OUT with the team's final four points as the Jaguars' last second game tying basket would fall short.  The freshmen was critical in the wild second half, scoring 15 of her team-high 21 points after intermission.  Goff also led the Bengals on the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Washington was the other LSUE player in double figures, scoring 15 points off the bench.

LSUE employed a balanced attack as nine of the ten players to see time would score at least a basket.

The Bengals return home this Saturday for a doubleheader against Baton Rouge CC, starting at 2:00PM.
