BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball took a lead into the fourth quarter but could not hold on, falling to Baton Rouge CC 62-54 on Wednesday at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. The Bengals (7-15 overall, 3-3 LCCAC) came into the game in a three-way tie for the LCCAC lead with BRCC and Delgado.
As was the case in their first two meetings, LSUE went back-and-forth with Baton Rouge CC in the first half. LSUE used a balanced approach to the defensive half with three players scoring at least five points as the Bengals trailed 25-23 at the break.
The Bengals would come out of the locker rooms with authority as LSUE exploded for a 23-point quarter to take a one point edge going into the final frame.
Shayla Hickerson (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) paced the Bengals offense in the frame, scoring 7 of her 12 points in the third quarter.
That's when the Bears would limit the Bengals, outscoring LSUE 18-8 in the fourth.
Braille Washington (Rayne, LA, Rayne HS) led LSUE with 15 points off the bench.
LSUE will play its final home game of the regular season this Saturday against Delgado CC starting at 2:00PM.
