EUNICE, La. –
Parker Coley (Sterlington, LA, Sterlington HS) provided instant offense to help set the stage for a solid outing by
Aiden Vosburg (Jarreau, LA, Catholic-Pointe Coupee HS) as LSU Eunice Baseball took down Panola College 8-3 on Monday at Bengal Stadium. The game marked the fifth game of the year against the Ponies, all won by the Bengals (42-2).
Coley connected on the first hit of the game for LSUE and made it count. After LSUE loaded the bases with a pair of walks and a hit by pitch, Coley launched the first pitch he saw over the left field to make it 4-0 Bengals. It was Coley's team's best ninth home run of the season.
That would be all the LSUE offense could muster most of the game, managing just three more hits heading into the eighth inning. Aiden Vosburg would pick up the slack on the mound, giving the Bengals the longest and most productive outing of his LSUE career.
Vosburg (5-0) quieted the Panola bats for seven innings, giving up two unearned runs off four hits and two walks. The sophomore struck out a career best seven batters, sitting down the Ponies in order twice.
Panola would sneak to within one run, 4-3, before LSUE would finally see its offense spark again.
Collin Husser (Ponchatoula, LA, Ponchatoula HS) started the rally with a lead off single, followed by two straight walks to load the bases.
Grant Mangrum (Sterlington, LA, Sterlington HS) walked in a run before
Bennett Clement (St. Francisville, LA, West Feliciana HS) and
Evan Joubert (Lake Charles, LA, St. Louis Catholic HS) scored on wild pitches.
Alexander Saunier (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette HS) lifted a sacrifice fly to close out the four-run frame.
Jacob Moore (Lacombe, LA, Lakeshore HS) would close out the game in the ninth, striking out a pair of batters while scattering a hit and a walk.
