EUNICE, La. – The sophomore duo of Kaylan Jack (Baton Rouge, LA, Madison Prep Academy) and Dayla Simon (Longville, LA, South Beauregard HS) combined for 49 points as LSU Eunice Women's Basketball scored a 92-75 victory over Southern-Shreveport on Wednesday at the HPRE Center.  LSUE (2-19, 1-0 LCCAC) earned its first home win under first year head coach Jahmel Samuels and won the Bengals' first LCCAC opener in three years.
 
The backcourt duo of Jack and Simon passed the baton of scoring in the first and second halves.  Simon jumpstarted the LSUE offense, bucketing 16 of her 18 points in the first half.  Jack took over out of the locker rooms, going for 20 of her game-high 31 points after intermission. 
 
A physical contest, LSUE would go to the free throw line 41 times paced by Jack's 9-for-10 performance.   She would also lead the Bengals from beyond the arc with a 4-for-9 outing from distance.  LSUE as a team would fire six trifectas on the night.
 
Mary Leday (Opelousas, LA, Northwest HS) would stuff the stat sheet, flirting with a triple-double after an 11 point, six assists, five rebounds and five steal game. Leday anchored a Bengals' defense that forced 25 turnovers including 15 steals.
 
Tierra Sylvas (Pearl River, LA, Northshore HS) was the other double digit point scorer, pouring in 10 points.
 
After a back-and-forth first quarter, LSUE would outscore the Jaguars 31-14 in the second to take 22-point edge at the break, 53-31.  Southern-Shreveport would creep back to within single digits in the fourth quarter before a final push by LSUE put the game to bed for good.
 
LSUE is back in action on Saturday with a LCCAC road trip at Delgado.  Game time from New Orleans is set for 2:00PM from the Williamson Center.
